William Fuller farmer,Suez Twp.Mercer County, was born in
New Boston Twp. Mercer County, October 27,1843, a son of
Jefferson and Tabitha (Libby) Fuller, natives of the State of Maine, who drove from that state, to Mercer County,
Illinois, arriving in 1841 and settling in New Boston Twp.
in 1842. Here Jefferson Fuller farmed until his retirement
to Aledo, where he died in 1898. William Fuller was married Feb. 20,1867 to Johanna, daughter of Hugh and Lydia A. Brown. they have two sons Elmer and Edgar C. In 1867 Mr.Fuller moved to Suez Twp. where he has since been engaged in farming and stock raising and now owns 240 acres of excellent land. He enlisted in Company H. Eighty Fourth
Illinois Volunteer Infantry July 24, 1862 and was assigned
to the Army of the Cumberland and particpated in many
engagements, the most important of them being Stone River,
where he was wounded and incapacitated for duty for ten
months; Resaca, Peach Tree Creek, Jonesboro, Lovejoy Station, Seige of Atlanta, Franklin and Nashville. He was
discharged in Springfield in June 1865. Politically, he is
a leading Republician and is amember of the Republican
County Central Committee from Suez Twp. He is a member of the Warren Shedd Post No.262 G.A.R. Aledo.
