Bernard (Brian) Caffrey and wife Margaret Plunkett came from Oldcastle, County Meath, Ireland. Bernard came with a brother around 1862 and joined the Civil War (Union). They had a son in Ireland named Patrick before Bernard left. Margaret and Patrick came over around 1865. I haven't found their ship records yet. But according to the 1870 Census in IL, that's about when they came over. Was your Caffrey family in County Mercer, Warren or Knox, IL between 1866 - 1876? About 1876, the family moved to Platte County, NE. Write back. Rose Mary Victor
