Am searching for the van Hettinga family that I have inherited the family Bibles from.. they seem to have been from Ogle County. Marriage of Nicholas van Hettinga and Janna Wichmann was in Oregon Illinois on June 9, 1882.. need to know whether they had children.. there still seem to be Hettingas in the area.. did they all belong to Berend or when Nicholas died in South Dakota did some of the children return to Illinois.. the mother Janna Wichmann seems to have died in Sibley, Iowa on Dec 15, 1952.
A nephew of all the other van Hettingas traveled to Grundy County Iowa from Oregon Illinois.. I believe his name was Allardus van Hettinga.. does anyone know any offspring of his.. He was still alive in the 1930s.. I believe his father was Berend van Hettinga.. did he live in Ogle County also? His wifes name was Margaretha Siebeldshe was born on Oct 7, 1839 in Pilsum, Ostfr. Germany and she was born in 1849 in Visquard, Ostfriesland, Germany. They were married in 1865
Also have a Jantje van Hettinga who is totally missing. Altje van Hettinga married a Herman Harrenstein and in 1884 she moved from Ogle County near Forreston to Grundy County Iowa. I have her first generation. Harm Klinger and Kea van Hettinga were married in Stephenson County but were from the Forreston area.. they moved to South Dakota. The van was removed from the name by most of the family.. so they are all Hettingas now.
Anyone with information on this family please email me.
Also seeking the connection between the Illinois Engelkes families that populate Ogle County and the Engelkes families from Grundy County and Osceola County Iowa and Nobles County Minnesota and those scattered in Southeast South Dakota.
