Thomas PARNELL (abt. 1814, England), and Catherine BEST (abt. 1824 in NY)married Sept. 15, 1849 in Medina, OH. Thomas purchased some land from the government in Princville, Peoria County, IL, and they moved there about 1857. They had five children, George (abt 1850), Harriet (abt. 1852), Ann (abt. 1853) Amelia (abt. 1854) and Washington (abt. 1856) were born in Ohio. I have only found record for three more children, Martha (abt. 1858), Mary E. (abt. 1860) and Frances (abt. 1864) born in Peoria, IL. Thomas PARNELL died in 1870, I think, and probably buried in Princeville. Catherine BEST either remarried, or died a few years later; looking for her and what happened.

Amelia PARNELL married Sipke VANDERKOLK about 1878-79 probably IL, and then moved to Bone Creek, (Octavia), Butler County, NE. I have found four children: Catherine (4/1887), William (8/1879), Vigor (7/1873), and George Edward (7/1891). Catherine married William Henry MALONEY (1886). I found only one child for her Lucile Adelaide (1910).

I think Ann PARNELL married William SHEELER (abt. 1846) in Princeville, Peoria County, IL.

Francis PARNELL married Lafayette BUTLER (2/15/1857) in Linwood, NE. I found Francis in the the Census with her sister, Amelia VANDERKOLK in 1880 in Butler County, NE. Francis died 10/13/1916 in Rifle, CO. I have her lineage.

The Vanderkolk children were found in the Census in Butler County, NE.
