I am trying to find my family line that settled in Perry Co. IL. around 1831. Besides the name Johnson, I do not know much else. I did find a Mordecia Johnson that came from Ohio to Perry county around the time my line did but as far as I know this line is not related to me. Below is what I do know. Which is really not much.
In a family genealogy "Nancy", may be listed as a daughter of a family when actuality she is a granddaughter, niece
or a cousin of this family.
My great x3 grandmother was Elizabeth Johnson of Ohio. Elizabeth married Daniel Pearce/Pierce in 1814 and together they had 3 children... she died about Oct. 1820 Salem, Champaign, Ohio. This is where they lived in the 1820 census so I am assuming this is where they lived a few months later when she died. Elizabeth's youngest child Nancy, was about 18 months old and after her mothers death went to live with her mother's people. I do not know if this was grandparents, Uncle's or cousin's only that it was on her mothers side. When she was about 12 she went with her mother's family to Perry Co. IL. to live and she remain there till she was 18 at which time she moved to northern IL to be with her father Daniel. The only other info I have is that Elizabeth was the only daughter of a Circuit Rider.
I am only guessing but I would think she was born between 1790 - 1798. Daniel was born in 1789.
In one census two of her children have her listed as being born in Maryland (which is where there father was born and so it might of been confused) but in other census they have her listed as being born in Ohio. Daniel Pearce was born in Maryland, and lived in Hampshire Co. Virginia (now W.Va.) before his family moved to Champaign Co. Ohio.
