No. I didn't know that He was in any wars at all, but it will give me something to dig into. I did find another Hause family on one of the census from Illinois. I think it was either Peter's brother or Peter's Father. I will go back over the census to double check the names. From what my family has said, our family name is spelled Hause, but there was a brother or cousin at some point that actually changed the spelling to Haws or Hawes. I think the whole Haws come into effect due to census workers not verifying the spelling of the names and just writing the surnames down phonetically. But it might have also been due to lack of reading/writing skills as well. I have some court papers from a proceeding about a land dispute. They have Peter's death date and some Last Will & testament information along with Some of Horace's information as well. You can google "Peter Hause" vs and it should bring up a google book link with the minutes/findings in it. Thanks, for all the information so far. I really appreciate it. - Angela
