Searching for info on William E. Moberly, b 13 Mar, 1822 in Madison Co. KY and migrated to Chariton Co. MO as a young man. He married in Randolph Co. on 6 Aug 1840 to Martha Agnes Collins. By the 1860 census of Chariton Co. he is listed as a lawyer. They reportedly never had any children of their own, but adopted several. Sometime in the late 1870's he moved to southern IL. The 1880 census for Cobden TWP, Union Co. IL lists only Martha and 3 of their children. It states that she is married, but where is William? Martha died 16 Jan, 1889 (entry in the Register of Deaths states that she is married): William died 3 Apr, 1991. His death certificate states that he was a lawyer. They are buried in lot 62, block no. 4 of the Cobden Cemetery and share a headstone. However, Williams will, dated 30 May, 1889, leaves all of his property to his "beloved wife, Lizzie". When and where did Lizzie become his wife? Who was she? Any information on this will be greatly appreciated.
