My ancestor George W. Snyder moved to Danville ca 1882. Born about 1846, he served in the 11th Indiana Cavalry during the civil war and then was in Thorntown in Boone County, IN living with his brother Charles H. SNYDER when he married Mary MIKESELL in 1868. George and Mary had six children – 1) Nora, born ca 1870, married John FANCHER and lived in Hamilton Co., IN; 2) Carrie M., born 1872, married Louis LAIRD in 1894 in Danville and lived in Danville until her 1949 death with their five children – Ralph, Carroll, Esther, Fred, and Frank LAIRD; 3) Dorothy, born 1876, married Wilkey PEMBERTON in 1896 in Danville, and moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she died in 1948; 4) Charles, born in 1878, married Sophia SETTELMEYER in Danville in 1904, and lived in Danville with seven children – Mildred, Gertrude, Dorothy, Margaret, Elizabeth, Robert, and Delores SNYDER; Charles died in 1931 and Sophia in 1943 and both are buried in Greenwood Cemetery; 5) Arthur, born 1882, married Anna CARROLL ca 1904, lived in Westville and they had one known child, daughter Frances, who died at age five in 1910. Arthur died in 1947 and is buried in Springhill Cemetery; and 6) Raleigh (also Rolla), born January 1887, married Nellie MOBAKER ca 1910 in Danville, and had four children Marian (d. 1910), Edna L., Winifred, and George. They moved to Los Angeles in the 1920’s and Raleigh died there in 1944. Mary Mikesell Snyder died in 1907 in Danville. George moved to Los Angeles with his daughter Dorothy for the last few years of his life and died in the Veterans Home there in 1924. George and Mary are buried in Springhill Cemetery. Would like to exchange any information with descendants or anyone working on this line.
