I would appreciate information regarding an unknown MILLER who married Elizabeth E. CLARK circa 1870, most likely in Wayne county. Elizabeth was the daughter of John Brooks CLARK and his wife Elizabeth PENNINGTON, and was born 3 June 1851 near Johnsonville, Wayne county. She was not at home with her parents in the 1870 census, and daughter Mary E. MILLER was born circa 1871. I have not found any reasonable matches for Elizabeth in the 1870 census (not John MILLER and his wife Olivia "Livy" TURNER of the 1870 census).
Elizabeth's second husband was Hugh Aiken McKELVY/McKELVEY. They were married in Jefferson county, Illinois on 2 July 1874, and lived in Rome township there. Hugh had been married twice before, surviving his first wife Clarrisa and divorcing his second wife Naomi in 1869. Elizabeth and Hugh were the parents of at least six children:
1 - Rosa Maud McKelvey, 1875-1939, married John E. Stover
2 - Infant McKelvy, d. 1877
3 - Infant McKelvy, d. 1878
4 - Calvin Riley McKelvey, 1879-1949
5 - Clara McKelvey, 1882-1902, never married
6 - Hugh Aiken McKelvey, 1884-1935
According to the 1900 census, Elizabeth was the mother of 8 children, 5 living. I have only uncovered 6 McKelvey children and 1 Miller child. Four of the McKelvey children were living in 1900, so it is likely that daughter Mary E. Miller was also married and living somewhere in the Wayne, Jefferson, or Marion county area at the time. It is possible then that the 8th child of Elizabeth was yet another unknown MILLER, possibly buried with his/her father.
Elizabeth died in 1910 and was buried at Elmwood cemetery near Centralia, Marion county, Illinois. I do not know her place of death or exact date of death. I did not find her listed in the 1910 census, so she probably died early in the year. Husband Hugh McKelvey died 2 January 1892 and was buried with his first wife and children of several marriages at Old Covenanter cemetery in Marion county.
