CHARLIE ROGERS DIES
Services for Herrin Man, 83, To Be Monday
Charlie Ambus Rogers, 83, of 501 N. 14th St., Herrin, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the Herrin Hospital. He had been in ill helath [sic] seven months and entered the hospital Friday.
Rogers as [sic] born in Soddy, Tenn. on Aug. 22, 1870, a son of Preston and Sarah Rogers. He had lived in Herrin 54 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Woodmen of the World. He was a retired miner.
He leaves a son, Basil of Herrin; daughters, Mrs. Mabel Russell and Mrs. Hallie Darnell of Herrin and Mrs. Lucille Wiggins of San Diego, Calif.; 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Boyd Cubbage officiating. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Storme Funeral Home.
