DEATH CLAIMS L. E. NICHOLS
Veteran Marion Grocer Succumbed Early Monday After Long Illness.
Leonard E. Nichols, marion grocer, died at his home at 1017 West Main street at 3 a. m. Monday after a long illness. Mr. Nichols had been in failing health for several years [sic] had been confined to his bed since January.
Born May 23, 1887 at Stone Fort, the deceased was 56 years and five months old. He was the son of Elvis and Mary Boyd Nichols. He was married April 8, 1908 to Miss Opal Reagan who survives with two daughters, Mrs. James Dedman, Jr., Wilmington, Delaware and Mrs. harold Wachtel, Marion, one grandson, Del Nichols Wachtel, and three sisters, Mrs. Alice Smith, Stone Fort, Mrs. Stella Muench, Baldwin, Ill., and Miss Ivy Nichols, Brandon, Miss.
A farmer in his early life, Mr. Nichols, had been in the grocery business on West Main street in Marion for 24 years. He was a member of the First Methodist church and the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Funeral arrangements had not been completed Monday.
The body will lie in state at the home.
