Augusta was my gr-grandfather. I don't have a lot on him either. All that I do have is that he married Bertha Ann Wallace in Colorado in 1917. She divorced him in 1920. On the 1920 Denver census, he showed up living in a boarding house listed as A.S. MORRIS.
He supposedly lived in San Antonio, TX after that for a little while. From there it's very sketchy.

They must have moved on from Williamson Co., Ill. I didn't find any records of them in births, divorces, marriage records, etc. With names that unusual you would think that there would be a record of them.

Which one of the children is your line? Where did they move to?

Patricia

All I have is her initials from the 1880 census for Eight-Mile, Williamson, IL. Her initials are M.B. MORRIS. Her father may be from either Tennessee or PA. The only other thing I have are her children on the census.

None of the names you mentioned sound familiar but as soon as I get back into the boxes I will scan them and send you a copy. It may be a few months but there are some other people that want them as well so I need to find them..Sincerely, Wendy

My dad's name is Warren Floyd Williamson Jr. My grandpa was Sr. and my grandma was Delores Mae Strong. Also my great grandpa was Adam Williamson and my great grandma was Anne (Ralston). My great grandparents had 14 kids. As far as I know we are all from Ohio area, but not for sure of my great grandpa Adam. My grandpa Warren Sr. has a sister named Lucille. I do not know the other 13 names of his siblings and am trying to find this info out. Her married name may be Gram but not for sure. I have three aunts: Carolyn Mae Williamson Wilcox, Vicki Williamson King and Annie Williamson Ireton. This is all the information I have so if any of this sounds familiar to you feel free to email me back.dwilliamson10@yahoo.com

If this board is still active I have a thought/question about his wife or wives. I have a Charles Anderson in my tree born 1810 NC married Sarah Fuller first, daughter of Isham Fuller from Smith Co Tn. They had 3-5 children. 2 that moved to smith Co Tn and 1 that I can't find in census records but is mentioned in smith co tn probate records as son of mrs Sarah Anderson formerly Sarah Fuller. His name is Thomas A Anderson. Henry J Anderson and Susy (Susan) E. Anderson are in smith county Tn 1860 census with their grandfather Isham. Susan E. Anderson (1st marriage Gill) (2nd marriage Hankins) death certificate lists Charlie Anderson as father and Sarah Fuller as mother. Also lists her birthplace at Illinois. If you look at Charles Anderson in 1840, 1850, & 1860 censuses, there are Smith Co Tn Fuller Families and Caplinger Families as close neighbors. I feel like Sarah Fuller died and Charles Anderson married Milly after 1850 but before 1860.
Any thoughts? I have more information if anyone is interested. Kati

While recently sorting thru some of my deceased mothers personal papers. I found a Memorial Record from the funeral of Robert Elmore Angel. Died 19 Dec 1928 in the area he lived which was the Paulton/Pittsburg/Corinth area of southern Illinois. He was listed to be 70 yrs 10 mo old which would give him an 1858 birth. There is also a newspaper clipping about the death of a Mrs "El" Angel, no dates. Both of these individuals had their funeral service held by the Pleasant Grove Church. I know my mother grew up as their neighbors, but not sure why she had the memorial book. It could be very useful geneological data as well as sentimental for someone looking for it, so I will just keep it until someone calls for it.
Listed as nephews were James, Bert, Claude, LLoyd, & Moode Angel. Listed as family were Mr RE Angel, Mrs. Alice Angel, Charlie, Ethel, John, Roy, Clifton, Ida, Leon, Loren and Josh Angel. Also, Gertie Williams, Mae Pulley, and Lula Groves.
If you need more info just email me.

James Ward

Sending out a nationwide question regarding James Ward.

James Ward was born in 1864 in Williamson County, Illinois. He was the son of Andrew J. (Jack) Ward and Mary Jane (Taylor) Ward.

Sometime after the 1880 census, the Ward family moved to Ripley County, Missouri. Although James was around 16 (in 1880), I do believe that he migrated with his family.

My father remembers his "Uncle Jim" and "thought" he lived in Arkansas for a while but also lived in Virginia. Of course, my father was very young when he was around his uncle and was going on memories around 50 years old.

Also, another "family" story - James Ward supposedly was kicked in the head by a mule and, according to my father, suffered from a sort of "split" personality after that. Here's where it gets strange - "supposedly" James had a family in Arkansas AND in Virginia and that he went back in forth between them. It could be that he was divorced and simply went back and forth to visit his children. Not sure how true that story is as these were 50 year old memories from my father's young childhood.

However, I am hoping that someone out there at least recogizes the family connection between James Ward, as son of Andrew J. and Mary Ward - born in IL and moved to MO.

Any information very much appreciated! This is the last child of Andrew and Mary Ward that I have yet to find any evidence of AFTER the family moved to Missouri.

Thanks so much.

Hello, seeking information regarding Andrew J. (Jack) Ward & Mary Jane (Taylor) Ward.

They married in 1855 in Williamson County, Illinois. In 1870, they were living in Johnson County, IL (he was listed as "Jack" Ward on census). In 1880, they were living in Williamson County, IL with several children (Wilson, Marcus, Wiley - just a few of them).

They migrated to Ripley County, Missouri around 1890.

I believe that Mary Jane was the daughter of William and Margaret Taylor. She had many siblings, a few were: Malvina, Emaline, Wiley, Rhonda... I found Mary Jane still at home in 1850 Census for Williamson County, IL. By 1860, she has married Andrew J. Ward and most likely had two or three children by then.

I have NOT been able to find Mary Jane and Andrew Ward (and their children) on the 1860 census for IL nor have I been able to find any further information on the Taylor family.

Also, have not (after 20 years of searching) found any evidence of Andrew J. Ward PRIOR to his marriage to Mary Jane Taylor. My grandfather (son of Andrew J. Ward) said that Andrew came from a very large family however had no clue where he was actually born. I have been told both Illinois and Tennessee.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello~My cousin John Wilmot Wood (Woods), born in Ontario, Canada, and his wife Anna E. lived in Williamson County (first Marion, then Herrin) from 1914 through 1942. They are on the 1940 census in Herrin--John working for the WPA. In 1942 he registers for the WWII military at age 52, still living in Herrin, but now says his closest relative is his mother in Canada. I assume his wife Anna E. died in Williamson County between 1940-1942. They had no children. I am trying to determine if there is any record of an Anna E Wood or Woods dieing in Herrin at that time. They were married around 1914, probably in Williamson County, but have not been able to find a marriage record so I don't know Anna's maiden name, just that she was born in Illinois. I know this is a long shot with the common name of WOOD but thought it was worth a shot. I don't know what became of either one of them after 1942. Previous to working for the WPA, John worked for the Railroad as a locomotive fireman. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you!

Heres the info i have: Their 2 children are buried at Hurricane Cemetary in Carterville, IL. Their names are Mitchell Stephenson 03-10-06 to 12-14-17; Noah Stephenson 09-07-09 to 11-04-10. I believe they are also buried there however I cannot find any markers. I did find this page on Williamson Geneology Village site but do not understand what the numbers are referenced to. Hope you can help. Here is the link:

http://williamsonil.genealogyvillage.com/deaths-S.html

Hi,

I'm doing research in Williamson County and was wondering if I could get some information on a family. The family's last name is Ray. Specifically I'm trying to find out the heirs of John Jones Ray and his wife Catherine Ray.
John J. Ray died 2-19-1918. I know he had several kids with Catherine, because I've seen his probate. The children I know he had are Roy Ray, Edna Laswell, Stella Crain (or Craig), William Robert Ray, C. E. Ray, and Della Childers. I'm wanting to see if I you might have information about any of his kids, and if they had any kids. Any information you can give me would be a great help.

Thanks,
Jeremy
