Your story is clear and shows you grasp what one has to do to follow and/or find a paticular paper trail, so I wish I could help you.
What I can do is thank you for a clear example of the kind of thing that happened in the past blocking knowledge in the present of a line's DNA memory as well as of its names and dates. I can use your story (anonymously) as an actual case illustrating how my line's DNA test results could have been limited at any point in the past.
