Martha (Meyer) Potterbaum died in Elkhart, Indiana in 1949. Here is her obit:
Mrs. Martha Potterbaum, 69, who made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ben Sommers, at 815 Laurel St., died Saturday night at General Hospital, where she had been taken Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Potterbaum had been ill about six months.
A short service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Zelle Hartzler funeral home. The Rev. Harlow Gailey, pastor of the Riverside Christian Church, to which Mrs. Potterbaum belonged, was in charge. The body was sent Sunday evening to Metropolis, Ill., where the funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Oak Grove church. Burial will be in the Oak Grove cemetery.
Mrs. Potterbaum was born April 22, 1880, in Massac county, Ill., the daughter of Henry and Mary Meyer. Her marriage to Ernest Potterbaum took place in Metropolis, Ill. He died in 1917. Mrs. Potterbaum had lived in Elkhart more than 20 years.
Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Sommers, are three other daughters: Mrs. Chester Robinson, New Paris; Mrs. Alice Rowe, Dallas, Texas; and Mrs. Melvin Eaves, Anna, Ill.; a son, Fred Potterbaum, Elkhart; two sisters, Mrs. Ben Obermark and Miss Emma Meyer, both of Metropolis; and four grandchildren.
