Searching for H. O. Farrell parents. H. O. was born in Illinois and went to Rocky Ford Colorado in the early 1900 and he was listed on the Census in 1910 as a buttermilk peddler. He married Rose M. Putman in 1905/6 in Rocky Ford Colorado. Rose is my aunt on my mothers side. Her parents were Harry Putman and Candace Boatman. They had one son Robert Farrell. Robert could have been in WW2 but don't know. Was Rose and H. O. divorced or did either of them die? Thanks for any help I can get.
Sadly no. I don't have this. I am researching all this from the England...so I'm not in the US.

My grandmother's father was Alva F Hawthorne, and mother was Marie McClain. Marie's mother? I'd like to find her. For my own peace of mind I'd like to know if they registered with the Dawes roll or other places or of marrying a European man thus meant you were "safe".

If that's what they did - married white men and "hid" then they did me a huge disservice. I know things were rough - I have heard stories that gave me nightmares - but in the end now it boils down to being withheld one's own identity.

I hope I am wrong about the last part. I hope I find them somewhere, that they admitted they were Native American.

My grandmother was Ms Evangeline Marie "Pepper" Hawthorne.
She married James Leon Crain in 1942 and had a son by him, my father Terry Lee 1945.

My grandmother's mom was Marie McClain (this was her name as a married woman). I know nothing about her, more than tragic stories. Marie spoke Cherokee. So did her mother. My own grandmother? I don't know.

Can someone shed some light on my background? Thank you.

You should review the records that are available online via Kalocsa diocese e-archive, for Bački Breg the records are for the period 1826 -1922 and will include her birth and baptism record -which will give you full and accurate neames of her parents and explore further down in time her family history and connections to other people you mentioned.

I reviewed the records for 1920 and she was not born there that year.

Consider as options:

- wrong birth year
-wrong place of birth
- other denominations

About that e-archive you can read here, and find the links to listing of all available parishes as well as a link for registering:

http://www.rodoslovlje.com/forum/vojvodina/kalocsa-roman-cat...

***

"Rodoslovlje" Serbian Genealogy Society
www.rodoslovlje.com

My Great Great Grandmother is Rose Marie Louise Donacher Kush(or Kusch).
She and John Otto Kush(Kusch) had 11 children. 2(that I have found so far) died when they were young, their youngest son Donald was killed in France during WWII. I've been trying to find out more on Rose's parents Martin Dornacher and Catherine(Katherine) Kohler, so I've been trying to find a living relative. I'm currently talking with one who is related to Rose's brother Charles. Didn't know what you might have on the family.

~Elise

Thank you so much! I don't know why I couldn't find the 1860 census, but now I know the family in Missouri is for sure them. Any ideas on how I could find divorces? It looks like there should be one for Jemima and Nathan, but perhaps they never really got one? Strange that he just falls off the Earth after Mary is born.

ACCESS TO CEMETERIES ON PRIVATE PROPERTY

I am posting this in regards to IL cemeteries that's on private property. I don’t know if any of one is aware, but Illinois does not have a law on the books which allow guarantee access to the cemeteries on private property.

Many land owners of private property that has such a cemetery, burial ground or grave(s) join their property, will not grant permission to descendants of the deceased, any person or persons engaged in genealogical, historical or cultural research who wishes to maintain and/or restore lost cemeteries. Many times when the land is sold from one person to another, it is stated on the deed that a cemetery exist on the property and that there is an easement to the cemetery. Also on the deed it also states that anyone who wishes to visit the cemetery, burial ground or grave(s) has that right to ingress and egress to the cemetery. But the land own still refuses to allow permission to cross his land to get to the cemetery.

In recent year many states have passed a Bill guaranteeing access to cemeteries on private property and made it into law guaranteeing access to private property. Illinois need such a law also. So won't you assistance by writing to your State Senator and Representative for such a Bill to be passed in the Illinois.

John Neligon death?

John Neligon was born 10 Sep 1885 in Meriden, New Haven, Connecticut. He relocated to Elgin, Kane, Illinois about 1915. He appears in the federal census in 1920 and 1930 in Elgin. He was employed in the Illinois Watch Case Co. as a silversmith. Last known residence was at the Elgin YMCA, as listed in the city directory in 1931. This is the last record I could find of his where abouts. I am unable to find any other information after 1931. He does not appear in the city directory in 1933 nor does he show up in the 1940 federal census. I'm assuming that he passed away between 1931 and 1933 in Elgin. It's possible he could have relocated to another city or state, but I am not finding any other records that would indicate this. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction as to where and when he passed away or where he might have gone. He was left an orphan at the age of 9 and had only one surviving brother who never communicated to any family members that he even had a brother.

Henry Reed Simpson and Geo. Wash. Hawthorne Simpson

I'm having some trouble finding the parents of two of my relatives, but I did find something interesting that may help. Unfortunately I have had no luck so far.. and could use some help.

I just found something that says that Henry Reed Simpson b. 8 Nov 1864, Illinois(father of Edward Harry Simpson) is first cousins with Robert Jefferson Simpson b.4 Feb 1863(father of Frances Isabel Simpson).. and Frances and Edward Simpson were married. I looked into the mothers first just to make sure the two weren't cousins through them, and they aren't as far as I can tell. But now I'm running to the problem I had in the first place which is that I have no idea where(who) Henry Reed Simpson came from. What I do know now is that his father (whoever he is) must be a brother of George Washington Hawthorne Simpson b. Nov 1829, Ohio(who is Robert Jefferson Simpson's father). But I am also having trouble figuring out who GWH Simpson's parents are.

If anyone can help me find something that would be fantastic! It's a bit of a puzzle.

I hope that wasn't too confusing.

He married Jemima Collins, but he seems to disappear and she remarries. Would love to know the whole story on this one! Thanks, elpratt

My children were also seen by Dr Clyde Kirchoff in the 70s. We lived in Santa Paula And then to Filmore but kept going to Ventura to have him treat our babies. His written notes of what to do after each visit are part of our children's baby books. I cherish his words of wisdom and have shared them with our children for our grandchildren He has a wonderful legacy.
