Margaret R. Nussbaum, 89, of Swiss Village in Berne, died at 1:55 p.m. Thursday in Caylor-Nickel Medical Center, Bluffton, of a heart related illness. She had been ill for three weeks.
She was born on June 7, 1903 in Adams County to Rudolph and Anna Mazelin Steury and married Philip Nussbaum on June 6, 1926. He died in September 1965.
She retired in 1983 at age 80 after a 20-year career at Parkway Restaurant in Berne. She was a member of the Evangelical Mennonite Church, Berne, and its ladies aid group.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Lorena) Lichtenberger, Berne; two sons, Elroy Nussbaum, Monroe, and Philip Nussbaum, Jr., Fort Wayne; a brother, Amos Steury, Bluffton; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a sister, Lena Graber and three brothers, Noah, Calvin and Reuben Steury.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Evangelical Mennonite Church, with Rev. Bruce Linhart officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visiting hours will be 2-9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Sunday in Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home and 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday in the church. Preferred memorials are to The Gideons International Miracle Camp in Lawton, Michigan or the church's ladies aid group.
