<<I am looking for information on Christian Essex who was born 1806 in North Caroline, and died 1858 in Bartholomew Co.>>
I have a Christian Essig b. 20 Mar 1804 who is the son of William Jacob Essig b.c. 1773 d. 1849 married to Catherine Livengood born 3 Jul 1781 died 5 Mar 1855.
William was the son of Joseph (Joel?) Essig b.c. 1742 in Germany and I believe he was married to Elizabeth Kimmel b.c. 1752. Joseph has a Revolutionary War pension application in North Carolina from when he was an Indian spy at Ruddles Station in Kentucky.
I am a descendant of Joseph's son John Essex b. 17 Feb 1805 who followed his sons to Bartholomew County, IN from Davidson County NC. I don't think Joseph Essig was Moravian, but John Essex married a VERY Moravian Catherine Rothrock, and that line was Moravian. I don't have much more on Christian, but I will email you what I have so far on the Essig/Essex family.
I do think all the Essex in Bartholomew County IN as well as Davidson Co NC are somehow all related. John was born in Philadelphia and Joseph Essig's pension says he was born in Germany and came here at age 10. I have not found his parents yet.
