C. L. Shaner Passes Away
Christopher Lewis Shaner, aged 71, former janitor at the West End School in this city died Saturday morning at 10:30 at the Boehne hospital in Evansville. He had been in failing health for several years when his condition became serious a month ago and he was admitted to the hospital. He was born on December 7, 1874, in Daviess County, the son of Abraham Seymour and Emmaline (Jones) Shaner. He was the husband of the late Rose Pruitt. He was educated in the local schools and was a member of the First Baptist church. Mr. Shaner is survived by the following children Mrs. Ruth Miles of this city, Thomas and Pearl Shaner of Evansville. Eight other children preceded him in death. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Gill funeral home with the Rev. William R. Seat in charge. Interment will be in Aikman Creek cemetery. Friends may call at Gill's chapel until the hour of services.
