We are very close cousins (2nd cuz, I think) My mother was Alma(Amy) Hammerle Wellbaum.
Ten children of George & Catherine Hammerle: Victor, Edward, Oliver, Carl, Alma, Fred, (Catherine_stillborn) Martha, Agnes & Beatrice.
Your grandfather got Victor a job on the railroad and he worked on it until he retired. Aunt Bea died 2011, the last of the siblings.
I am visiting my daughter, she has a copy of a book, that I wrote for my family, there is some info on Joseph & Katherine Hornbach:
Joseph is on the 1870 census for Butler County in Pa, his occupation was hotel keeper (John & Crescenzia ran a boarding house in New Alsaces, I have a photo of their kids, with your grandfather in it) Joseph Hornbach born Sep 3, 1814 in Baden, Germany, died Sept 9, 1874 buried at St Martin in Yorkville, IN, married Katherine Zinkhorn Nov 16,1845 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Butler Ct, PA. Katherine Zinkhorn born Oct 23, 1825 in Hesse, Germany, died Dec 24, 1912, d/o Caspar & Margaret Zinkhorn both born Hesse, Germany, Caspar born circa 1792, Margaret circa 1794 they are on 1840 Butler Ct PA census w/ a list of their children.
I have extensive confirmed info on Crescenzia Riedinger family and lots of photos including Hornbach headstones from Holy Cross Cemetery in Indy (Carl J Hornbach also)
I feel the connection between the 2 Hornbach familes began with Otto Hammerle & Anna Hornbach and they were more in-laws then cousins but I need my research info to add more!!! I live in AZ but have been to Yorkville and have a long list of the Hornbachs in that area,
I look forward to exchanging info with you, my mother left me with a lot of info on the family, she died in 2004 at 96yrs old. Jeanette
