My gg grandfather was Samuel Alexander Williams who was born in Delaware County, Indiana, in about 1836. He served in the 8th MO Cavalry during the Civil War, and died in California about 1897. I have no information about his parents and siblings. There is a Samuel Williams in the 1850 Census living in Liberty Township, Delaware County, with 8 children -- one of whom is a son Samuel Williams, age 13. The 1840 census lists (I think) the same Samuel Williams with family members that seem to be the correct ages. If this is the correct Samuel Williams family, I can follow them from Indiana to Kansas Territory in 1860.
