The 1850 census of Harbison Township, Dubois County, Ind., lists a John HADDOCK household that includes four of his children and a granddaughter. The four children are Susannah (Haddock) THORNTON, John HADDOCK, Alexander D. HADDOCK and Greenberry HADDOCK. The granddaughter listed is Martha A. THORNTON, daughter of Susannah. Martha later married John D. CAVENDER of Dubois County. I am particularly interested in information on these HADDOCK and THORNTON families, whose lineage goes back to Tennessee and the Carolinas. Who was Susannah's husband, presumably deceased by 1850, as she is in her father's household again at the age of 41?
