Hello jbgenseeker & Nancy,

After much searching, I found my notebook where I entered the info (in Aug 2010) while standing next to a full size tombstone lying flat in the David & Elizabeth N._______ Sherry plot, City Cemetery, Connorsville, Fayette Co, IN. We (Nancy and I) wrote of this in an earlier message in this message thread, rootsweb, Fayette County message board. Amazingly, yes my recollection does indeed match with your (Nancy's) PHILEBAUM surname mentioned. I wrote this that day, matching the stone’s inscription layout:

Looking on the web, I note this SHERRY/PHILEBAUM family unit, but I am not familiar with any facts on this family- so I cannot say that this info below is correct:

Daniel Boone Sherry (1768 - 1850) Born in Pennsylvania, USA on 1768 to John Sherry. Daniel Boone married Nancy Devore and had 4 children. He passed away on 1850 in Delaware, Indiana, USA.

Is this the PHILEBAUM line which you (Nancy) think is connected to your own Abigail Sherry Robeson line...Be sure you note that final child’s name in the PHILEBAUM listing--spelled Clarisy Emily Philebaum here-- that is so similar to a first/middle name which passed down in my line, but I am spelling it Clarsey Emley --- Could an early EMLEY family surname of PA, ideally marry into the early SHERRY line of jbgenseeker or -- if they would own land next door to your Sherry’s that would be convenient (wistful speculation).

I also thought that one of the early censuses had my David Sherry 1789, husband of Elizabeth N____ born in Ohio (not PA as you suggest)- maybe this was 1850, Connorsville- offhand.

But speaking of land records, Could BLM land records hold the answer? I see online:

It (the patent image) says David Sherry of Rush County Indiana, on one of these two early ones for Delaware County (40 acres); the second one (80 acres) also places David Sherry of Rush Co IN. Both dated 1837. Isn’t the Rush County, IN border not too far from Connersville, Fayette, if I am recalling correctly...could these be my David at City Cemetery...

But thirteen years earlier, it seems, Daniel Sherry in 1824 was acquiring in Rush Co IN, (160 acres) and here the patent image says he (Daniel) is of Ripley Co, Indiana. Ripley which jbgenseeker wrote of for her/his line. Later, Daniel was acquiring in Delaware Co, IN, 1837. I have not studied these... but I am hoping these clues may help... Does the cemetery plot, plus the land records, structure my David 1789/Eliz to be a possible? son (speculation) of the earlier Daniel 1768 or ...
