Surnames: Johnson, Jonson, Jansen, Janzen
I now believe that John Johnson, b 1819 Ohio, and living in Fountain County is a son of Jeriah Johnson to be found in nearby Putnam County.

Researchers of Jeriah Johnson show his lineage to trace back to New Jersey where the surname became "Anglicized" from Jonson/Jansen as pioneers departed from New York (aka Nieuw Amsterdam). Ultimate line leads to Hendrick Jansen/Janzen b. 1618 Arnhem, Gelderland, Nederland, who immigrated here.

As a direct male descendant of this line utilizing DNA services for analysis of my "Y" chromosome, results seem to support that. My identification profile is much closer to those originating from the coastal areas reaching from the Netherlands to Denmark, rather than Johnsons originating in the countries of the British Isles.
