Mrs. Mary WILES was born in Greene County, Indiana, February 16, 1844 and died at her home near Bloomfield, January 18, 1915, aged seventy years, eleven months and two days. She was the daughter of James and Margaret KELLEY. She had three sisters and one brother: Mrs. Jemima MCCLURE, of Beatrice, Nebraska, Mrs. Lizzie PERDUE, of Paola, Kansas, Mrs. Martha MATTHEWS, of Newberry, Indiana, and William KELLEY, of Winfield, Kansas. She was married to her first husband, Shelton GENTRY, September 13, 1860. He died April 3, 1862. To this union were born two children, James S. and Sarah C. She married William J. WILES February 12, 1867. Six children were born to them, five sons and one daughter, but only two are left to mourn her departure. They are Emerson WILES and Leamon WILES. Those preceding her to the life beyond are David D., Della, Emmett and another son, who died in infancy. There are twenty-four grandchildren living and four dead; eleven great-grandchildren living and three dead. She spent most of her life in Indiana, going to Iowa in her early days for a short time. Ever since the death of her second husband in 1899, she has lived with her son Emerson. She joined the Baptist church when sixteen years of age and lived a Christian life until death took her away.
