Charles Noah Dome wrote - in 1836 the Woods Chapel Methodist Episcopal class was organized. It consisted of 13 members from Whitten Chapel. He lived four miles North of Corydon, IN. He helped to fight John Morgan when he made his raid on Indiana. A note by Martha Louise Slayton Boyer with an old pendulum mantle clock (in the possession of Paul Slayton Boyer since February 1998) says: "John A. Boyer born Jan 29, 1839, was married in 1859 to Mary Antoinette Dome, and at that time bought this Seth Thomas clock. It was made in the town of Plymouth, Conn., which was renamed Thomaston in honor of Seth Thomas after his death in 1859. Tradition has it that he enjoyed arguing about religion and politics (testa Nelda Beedy Boyer). Described as a "kind, high-principled, intelligent man," but with "limited education." (David Walter Boyer in Boyer Memories, p. 26).
