I have seen the 19 March 1822 birth date for Mary Ann (Anna) Teaford -- my source is Byron E. Harter & Donald Joseph Jetter, "Descendants of Andreas Harter," Combined manuscripts dating from 1969 and 18 January 1998.
HOWEVER, Mary Ann's tombstone states that she died at age 68y, 8m, 19d on 8 December 1880. My source for this is Jay Co. Message Board, Ancestry.com, by Beth, Salamonia Cemetery - Tombstone Inscriptions, firstname.lastname@example.org
If this transcription is correct and my arithmetic is correct, Mary Ann was born on November 23, 1811. I have her birth as possibly in either Augusta Co., VA, or Greenville, Darke Co., OH. I preseume her father to be Jacob, Johannes, OR George Teford (note the spelling), who were sons of Jacob Dufford (note the spelling again) & Christianna Schultz who supposedly emigrated from what is now Germany to Augusta Co., VA.
The following is from the Darke Co., OH, GenWeb Pioneers Site:

Also, from: History of Darke Co. OH, Vol. 1, by Frazier Wilson, pp. 161-163. Reprinted by the Darke Co. Genealogical Society, 1997:
"In the year 1909 a document was discovered in the sheriff's office in the Co. court house giving what it purports to be a complete enumeration of the white male inhabitants above 21 years of age, some four hundred in number, of Darke Co. in 1825. It was compiled by Archibald Bryson and certified to the associate judges of the Co.. The document is of old style parchment, yellow with age, but tough and legible. A careful perusal will reveal the fact that nearly every name is perpetuated by descendants still living here and numbered among the most prosperous families. The list is as follows:
.....Daniel Harter, Daniel Harter, David Harter, Francis Harter, Jacob Harter, John Harter, Peter Harter, Samuel Harter,.....George Teaford, John Teaford,....."

Another researcher, Dennis Moyer, writes:
"The first Teaford, Jacob, was of Huguenot descent. In the 1500's, his forebears left France because of religious persecution and lived for 200 years in Germany where the German name of Dufford was adopted. Wood says she is in the middle of compiling a family history book, and explains that there were different lines of the family branching off even then. On Oct. 27, 1774, Jacob came to America, settling in Shenandoah Co. in 1774 and in Augusta Co. in 1780. He died there in about 1800. The original immigrant's sons were responsible for beginning four branches of the Teaford family in America, and true to their father's penchant for wandering, managed to spread descendants across the United States in later years."
Please let me know if you (or anyone else) can figure out Mary Ann (Anna) Teaford's correct lineage.
