Mr. Edward Franklin Inskeep, age 83, of Madison, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at Hickory Creek at Madison.
He was born on December 23, 1922 in Madison, IN. the son of Roy and Mabel Perry Inskeep.
Mr. Inskeep was a veteran of the United States Army and retired in 1986 from the Jefferson Proving Ground as a supply specialist.
He had also worked as a house painter and for the Conn Organ Company for several years.
He was a very active member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church and served as a lay speaker.
He was a 48-year member and a past master of Eureka Lodge #30, F. and A.M.; a patron of Jen-Era-Jeff Chapter #44, Order of the Eastern Star; Jefferson Post #9, American Legion; and the Jefferson County Democrat Party.
He served as president of his AFL-CIO Union, was a former board member and chairman of OVO; a former board member of the Boys and Girls Club; a charter member and former president of the local NAACP; and served on the first Mayor's Human Relations Commission.
He enjoyed bowling, playing in Madison's fast-pitch softball league and was an avid golfer. Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Inskeep Bradford of Louisville, Kentucky; two sons: Neal Franklin Inskeep of Carrollton, Kentucky and Dwight Steven Inskeep and his wife, Windy, of Madison; eight grandchildren: Melinda Bradford, Travis, Kyle, Ebony, and Tahiem Inskeep, Kimberly Jones, Bridgette Hopkins and Sara Carter; and three great grandchildren.
Mr. Inskeep was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Claudia Burton Inskeep; his second wife, Mary Jackson Inskeep; one daughter, Kim Louise Inskeep; two sisters: Virginia Cosby and Harriet Wells; and one brother, Herbert Inskeep.
Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Robert Scott, Reverend Ray Wilkins, Reverend John Sharpe and Reverend Ernest Perry at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 3, 2006 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel.
Interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, November 2, 2006 and from 10 AM until time of services on Friday.
Memorial services will be conducted by Eureka Lodge #30, F. and A.M. and the Jen-Era-Jeff Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star on Thursday at the funeral home. The services will begin at 7:00 PM.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lide White Boys and Girls Club, Post Office Box 1128, Madison, Indiana 47250.
