Vivian Imogene (Wilcoxon) Ford, of University Heights, passed away on March 18, 2013. She was born to George and Anna Fields Wilcoxon on March 24, 1921 in Oakland, Sargent Township, Douglas County, Illinois.

She joined Newberry (IN) Methodist Episcopal Church in May 15, 1936 after being baptized in White River by Rev S E Stroud. After her family had moved to Indianapolis she attended and graduated from Shortridge High School and Butler University.

She married Richard “Dick” Ford on July 2, 1942 in the chapel at McDill Field Army/ Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida. They lived in Waycross, Ware County, Georgia in 1944 and 1945 while her husband was stationed there with the Army/Airforce Medical Corp. After the war ended they moved back to Indianapolis, Indiana where she lived the rest of her life in University Heights.

She worked at the Wm H Block Co for 35 years. She traveled widely with her husband, Dick. She was a member of Klever Kreators and the United Methodist Women. She devoted many hours to completing the reading list each year for the UMW. She was a member of University Heights United Methodist Church since April 10, 1955. Vivian’s greatest joy was her extended family. She loved cooking for her family and making their wedding cakes. She also enjoyed taking her family and friends to the Children’s Museum, the Indianapolis Zoo and the White River Gardens.

She is survived by her children, Julie (Willard) Miller and David (Vickie) Ford; 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Richard Ford; mother, Anna Fields; her best friends, her siblings, Lela Harmon, Laura Parks, Harold Wilcoxon, and Garold “Curly” Wilcoxon.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. Funeral Service will be conducted Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Indianapolis Zoo, Attn: Donations, in Memory of Vivian Ford, 1200 West Washington Indianapolis, Indiana 46222.
