Andrew Scott buried in Rice Cemetery
I am looking for any information on Andrew Scott who is buried in Rice Cemetery, Montgomery County, IN.
His tombstone was almost completely buried until a kind lady dug it out, cleaned it up, and transcribed the info on it. The stone says Andrew Scott born 1783, died 10/15/1838. It also says consort of Mary which I understand in those days meant husband or wife.
I'm trying to determine if this Andrew Scott is my 3rd great grandfather Andrew Scott. We know he married Mary Weese (many spellings) in 1808 in Gallia County OH. Sometime around 1823 they came to Hamilton County IN. We know of three children James born 11-18-1814, Andrew born 1823, and a daughter Anna. Surely there were more children but we don't have names and some may have stayed in OH? We believe from family stories handed down Andrew was born in Scotland.
James Scott remained in Westfield, Hamilton County, IN where he married Mary Wheeler in 1836. We found evidence that sister Anna Scott was unmarried and evidently ended up in an institution although she lived with James for a time.
Andrew Scott jr showed up in Tippecanoe County IN and married Sarah Miller there in 1841. I believe those counties are adjacent to each other? They began traveling and lived in 3 or 4 counties in IN, then to WI, and finally from WI to KS. We believe James and Andrew stayed in touch as James son Dr Winfield Scott came to KS and stayed with Andrew's family for a time.
I'd appreciate any information on Andrew Scott and/or this family if you think someone might be related or even suggestions as to where to look for more. Feel free to email me directly at doncar66020@yahoo.com Thanks Donna
