Classification: Query
Surnames: Jessup, Fiscus / Greenwell
In the book "Edward Jessup and Decendants" it lists a John Jessup (named the town Jessup, Indiana) ;
"Book; Edward Jessup of West Farms, Westchester Co, New York, and His Descendants
Page 40
In the list of post-offices for 1883 are -
"Jesup, Wayne Co., Geo.," a thriving place at the intersection of two railroads, named for M. K. Jesup, Esq., of New York;
"Jessup, Susquehanna Co., Penn.," named for the late Judge Wm. Jessup, of Montrose;
"Jessup's Post-office," on the Washington branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, in Maryland, sixteen miles from Baltimore, formerly called "Jessup's Cut," from Jonathan Jessop, the engineer, of York, Penn., who superintended the construction at that point;
"Jessup, Parke Co., Ind.," on the Logansport, Crawfordsville, and Southwestern Railroad, fifteen miles north-northeast of Terre Haute, named for a resident (John Jessup),** whose house was, in the early construction of the road, used as a station;
"Jesup, Buchanan Co., Iowa," on the Dubuque and Sioux City Railroad, nine miles west of Independence, named for M. K. Jesup, Esq.,
"Jessup, Antelope Co., Nebraska," said to have been named from the preceding office in Iowa."

** This JOHN JESSUP removed to Parke County many years ago, we are informed. He had a brother Silas Jessup. These names are common in the Jessup family of Long Island, N. Y., with which the above-mentioned persons were probably connected. "

The brother Silas Jessup is who I am wondering if he was born in 1799 / 1800 and lived in Vigo County in 1830 (according to census records and then in Clay County) - the census records say he was born in North Carolina.

Thank you in advance for any information that you can send me on this family
