I believe this line to be very interesting. The Davis family had moved to Indiana early as pioneers. My Mason line has a large presence there. Both families have Union soldiers in them. Does anyone know how the split came about, and why these individuals choose to be Yankies instead of Confederates. It looks like the Mason's decided to split from Mother and Father that had been in Kentucky for many years. Moving across the Ohio River was a choice. William and Nancy are from a large family, that may have had a plantation in or near Sonora KY. There were Mason's running businesses in Sonora, and a son John E. that lived on his on large farm, or plantation. They may have remained nutral. The quilt and clock are an interesting connection to Jefferson Davis. I would love to know if this was a gift to a President or one for a married couple? Verina Davis was the daughter of another president: Zachory Taylor who was from KY. Anyone have information to solve the mystery please respond.
