Information from the Civil War Pension file of Elisha Cookson: Elisha Cookson born Shelby Co. IN March 5, 1842; mother Prudy Cookson; married Caroline Biddinger/Bitinger August 21, 1863; died May 2, 1921 in Kitsap County, Retsil, WA. Affidavit of David C. Brown, resident of Seattle, WA, dated August 23, 1921,states "I was well and personally acquainted with Elisha Cookson, deceased, from my earliest recollection as my father and mother brought him up and as he was older than I, he was in our home when I was born." David C. Brown was 74 years of age at the time he prepared the affidavit. I am interested in learning the parents of David C. Brown and also what, if any, family connection there was between the Brown and Cookson families in Shelby County.
