MRS. MARGARET HAWKINS
Mrs. Margaret Hawkins, one of the pioneer women of Benton County died at her home at Otterbein at noon yesterday. She was born in Tippecanoe county 87 years ago the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sheetz, and moved to Benton county when she was a young girl. Most of her life was spent near Aydelotte nine miles northwest of Otterbein, but in 1900 she moved to Otterbein, where she has since lived. She was married to John Hawkins in 1849. At an early age she united with the Methodist church and was said to be the oldest Rebekah in Indiana.
Three children survive: Mrs. Emma McGrew of Hoopeston, Ill.; Luther Hawkins of Otterbein; and Mrs. Alice Buck, of Buck Creek. The funeral will be held from the Methodist church in Otterbein at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Rev. G. W. Switzer, of St. Joseph, Mich., will officiate, assisted by Rev. J. B. McNary, of Otterbein; burial at Gilboa cemetery.
