I am seeking information on Charles William Haden/Hayden, who was born in Nantucket 27 apr. 1827 and moved with his parents, George and Eunice Barnard Haden to Union County in 1836. Barney's Genealogical Record lists him as having two wives: Nancy C. Ring, whom he divorced, and Jane Ring, her sister. I do not know which came first. By 1860 he is listed in Guthrie County, Iowa, as a lawyer and in 1861 married Rhoda Virginia Mount, born in Ohio in 1841. Given the difference in their ages I think it is entirely possible he had a wife or wives before coming to Iowa. The 1850 census shows a Charles Haden born in Mass about 1826 living in Portland, Jay Co., Indiana, but I don't know if that is he or not. His bio in the Guthrie Co. history of 1884 lists him as having studied law with John Yaryan of Liberty, Indiana.
