I have a major brick wall that seems impenetrable. I am trying to figure out who the parents of the WHITTEN children are who start showing up in in the Daniel & Nancy WILSON household in 1860 and continue arriving until 1880. There may be a PHILLIPS connection as an elderly female, Margaret PHILLIPS, appears in the 1870 census with them.
Medaline WHITTEN (b. 1871, 1880 census below) is the 2nd wife of my 3xgrandfather William N. HARDIN. I know that she and Dora Belle WHITTEN (1870/1880 census below) are sisters because I have newspaper obits that state this.
Dora Belle's marriage record to James M. PHILLIPS in 1884 states her parents were "C?. WHITTEN and Elizabeth STARK". I cannot find this couple anywhere. Sister Medaline's parents in her marriage record to Wm HARDIN is no help: "parents = WHITTEN".
The children cannot be Nancy WILSON's from a previous marriage because new kids continue showing up in the later census records in the WILSON household.
