Marion L. Sharp, 86

A native and former resident of Wells County, Marion L. Sharp, 86, died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley Manor in Frankfort. He had been in failing health several months.

He retired in 1975 as owner and operator of Sharp's Variety Store in Ridgeville.

Mr. Sharp was a former member of the Ridgeville Library Board, past president of the Ridgeville Lions Club and member and past secretary of Bluffton Masonic Lodge 145 and member of the United Methodist Church.

He was a graduate of Bluffton High School and attended Indiana University Extension in Indianapolis.

He was born in Nottingham Township, Wells County, Aug. 27, 1913 to Victor and Iva Elston Sharp. His marriage in 1944 was to Mary Bandistel, who died in January 1995.

Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Alice Duffey of Mishawaka and Anita Bandistel of Fish Lake; several nieces and nephews and longtime friends, Michael and Lillian Clay of Muncie.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elm Grove Cemetery at Bluffton with members of Masonic Lodge 145 officiating.

Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home in Bluffton is in charge of arrangements. There will be no calling hours.

Ruby Kasler Bixby, 101

A native of Liberty Center, Ruby Kasler Bixby died in January at Jefferson Place Nursing Home in Louisville, Ky.

She was age 101.

Mrs. Bixby had resided in Florida most of her life and was a district manager for Avon Products for 25 years before retiring.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Isaacs of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Harriet May of Lakeland, Fla., and Bernice Roberts of Bluffton; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.



John Kay Inskeep, 60

John Kay Inskeep, 60, a native of Bluffton, died Wednesday at his home in Boca Raton, Fla., where he had resided the past 27 years.

Death was attributed to cancer and followed an extended illness.

He was engaged as a contractor.

He was born July 13, 1937 at Bluffton to John J. and Metealea Freeman Inskeep. His mother survives and resides in Fort Wayne.

Surviving also are his wife, Patty; two daughters, Debra McCourt and Kimberly Colby, both of Michigan; a son, John K. Inskeep, also of Michigan; two stepsons and a stepdaughter, all of Florida; a brother, William Inskeep of Bluffton; two sisters, Carol Mattern of Fort Wayne and Beverly Jackson of Wisconsin; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

There will be no calling time. The body will be cremated.



Irene E. Schindler, 86

Irene E. Schindler, 86, of Berne, died at 9:045 a.m. Wednesday at Adams County Memorial Hospital in Decatur.

A homemaker, she was a former co-owner of a general store and a member of the West Missionary Church at Berne and member of the church Ladies Aid at Reiffsburg.

She was born in Adams County May 3, 1913 to Edwin and Dorcie Broadstock Affolder. Her marriage at Berne on Dec. 24, 1932 was to David Schindler, who died in 1987.

Surviving are two sons, Arthur of Berne and William of Monroe; a daughter, Doris Foster of Wabash; a brother, Ray Affolder of Berne; a sister, Mrs. Leroy (Lillian) Grogg Bingen of Berne; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Services at 10:30 a.m. Friday will be at the West Missionary Church at Berne with Rev. David Rupp officiating. Burial will be in the MRE Cemetery at Berne.

Calling hours at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne are today from 2 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 to 9 a.m. and at the church for one hour prior to services.
