PETER BARNHEiSEL DAVIS [1836-1921] s/o John Davis & Mary E.(Isabella) Davis was probably named for a Barnhouse / Barnheisel relative. Several members of the Barnhouse family. Adam Barnhose, b. 1793 (according to Daniel B. Cooley) was b. in Loudoun Co., VA. Abel Davis, f/o John Davis, m. Mary Huffman. Benjamin Davis f/o Abel Davis [1764-1847] who m. Hannah Davis/Davies. It is possible that Hannah the Davis family springs from her line as Benjamin, when a child, may have been kidnapped by sailors & brought to America and indentured prior to reaching adulthood.

Hannah may be related to the family of Owen Davis of Harrison Co., VA/WV. This possible conculusion rests on the statement of Isaac Mason Davis who made such claim. Isaac Mason Davis [1829-1910] was also a son of John & Mary Newland Davis. Isaac Mason Davis m. Judah Ann Franklin. Teir youngest son b. 1881 was named Harry Barnheisel Davis.

Peter Barnheisel Davis m. Mary E. Cantwell d/o James Cantwell and Rebecca Harrison. This complex Davis Family remains open to many surprises.
