Sorry, I put wrong death date for John in first post. It is 4 Oct 1902. As for the middle initial, everything back then was hand written and the writting was probally hard to read for the transcribers, so it could be. It is odd that you have a John Swearingen buried in Kansas in Oct. 1902, but my John died in Indiana, I don't think they would transport him to Kansas when all his family was in Indiana
