AUNT JENNIE STEWART WAS A COUNTY PIONEER
The final rites for Mrs. Jennie STEWART, who died in her home here Wed. morning were conducted on Fri. afternoon, June 10, from the Methodist church at 2:30. Rev. C.H. Miller was the minister.
Mrs. Frank HULL and son, EVERETT sang three songs. Mrs. Everett Hull (Clara Blomgren) played the accompaniments. Flowers were cared for by Mr. & Mrs. Bert ROCKWELL, Mesdames Walter DEWITT, Clara MATSON, William MCVAY & Cora Page.
Pallbearers were Charles G. ANDERSON, Charles PATTERSON, Mart(in) MCCABE, George ROCKWELL, Charles & James GOODRICH. Interment was made in the family lot in the HULL cemetery.
Jennie HULL, daughter of John* and Sophia HOLCOMB HULL, was born in Boone Co., Jan. 25, 1851 and died in Luther June 8, 1932, age 81 yrs. 4 mo. & 13 days. She was married to John Z. Stewart Mar. 28, 1889. One son, Arthur, died in infancy. Mr. & Mrs. STEWART moved to Des Moines & from there to Forest City, IA. They lived there 8 yrs., then Mr. STEWART died. Shortly afterwards, Mrs. STEWART moved to Luther where she was employed in the telephone office for eight yrs.
She is survived by one brother, B. F. (Benjamin Franklin) HULL of the Meadow Grove community, two sisters, Mrs. Irene MADDUX of Dayton and Retta Hull of Luther. Five brothers preceded her in death. Her parents were pioneers, having come to Boone county from Lancaster, Schuyler county, Missouri in 1847. Those who came from a distance were Frank (G.) Hull and daughter Jean, Plattsmouth, NE; Mr. & Mrs. Duncan HULL, Horton, KS; Mrs. Chester MEYERS, Colorado; Mr. & Mrs. Joe BARBER & daughter, Nina, Ft. Dodge; Mr. & Mrs. COVEY, Misses Ester & Dora BUNCH, Des Moines; Mr. & Mrs. Frank GREENLEE & Mr. & Mrs. Cleve MYERS, Gowrie; Mr. & Mrs. John MADDUX, Pilot Mound; Mr. & Mrs. Joe MADDUX, Mr. & Mrs. Howard MADDUX & daughter Mildred, Dayton; Mrs. FRIAR & son Bertram, Grimes; & Mrs. Frank Betts, Ankeny.
*(John HULL was a son of George HULL who is buried in the HULL cemetery west of Luther.)
