OPPELT

I am looking for any information on Helen OPPELT, born to Harry Glenwood OPPELT and Nettie KRUGER OPPELT on Dec. 15, 1902 in Belle Plaine, Benton Co. Iowa. At the time of her birth she had one living brother, Norman OPPELT born May 02, 1900 also in Belle Plaine, Benton Co. Iowa. Her sister Ruth OPPELT was also born in Belle Plaine on Sep. 21, 1903. Some time between 1903 and 1909 the family moved to DeWitt, Clinton Co. Iowa where Laurence OPPELT, my wife's father was born on Aug 30, 1909. His birth record indicates only 2 living siblings at the time of his birth. I have been unsuccessful finding any records of Helen after her birth. My wife cannot recall any mention of Helen during her childhood. We have the death records and grave sites of Norman, Ruth and Laurence but cannot find any records of Helen other than her birth record. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Bob Dwiel
dwiel@aol.com
I am searching for a death of a child, surname Hugill, parents: Joseph and Elizabeth Hugill.
Also, is there a cemetery burial index available? I would like to know if the child is buried locally and if the father, Joseph Hugill born Oct 1841 Canada and died abt 1899-1900, is buried there.

I am looking for information on my father Sam Welborn, Jr. In December 1941 he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in Dallas, Texas. He took part in the first raid of the 322nd Bomd Group on May 14, 1943, a bombing raid of the Ijmuiden power station in Holland. He suffered injury on this mission, and later continued as a Ground Sgt. up until December 1943. On March 3, 1944 he was honorably discharged at the Schick General Hospital in Clinton, Iowa. Does this hospital still exist? Would there still be records of the patients there? If anyone has any info that would steer me in the right direction, please reply. Thanks.

Our family has been the beneficiary of Harriett J. Killean who was married to John or Jack Killean of Clinton, IA. Oddly (shamefully?), we know nothing about Harriet and why my dad and his brother and sisters have been getting a check in the mail since around 1962. My dad thought my grandfather, a stockbroker for a while, (JC O'Brien Chicago/Detroit b 1895, d. 1968) helped her with investments and the token trust was a thank you. My aunt (b. 1925) seems to think there might've been a family connection through my grandmother's maternal side (BINGHAMs and McGUIREs) -- families of status and wealth. Anybody know anything about the KILLEANs of Clinton, IA?

The LDS genealogy web site lists a number of GRUSENDORF individuals who were born and/or married @ Lyons in Clinton Co., IA. I assume these individuals descended from other Grusendorf individuals who were born @ Westenholz, Hannover, Prussia. My wife's gg grandfather, Andreas GRUSSENDORF, and several of his children immigrated to America (Galveston, TX) from Gifhorn, Hannover, Prussia during the 1845-1850 time period. Several of Andreas GRUSSENDORF's descendants are also listed on the LDS genealogy web site. Would like to determine relationship between the Iowa GRUSENDORF clan and the Texas GRUSENDORF clan.

I'm not sure where I got this information about my grandfather's cousins and uncle, but I would like to know if other Petersons are buried near them, especially Otto and Carl. Also, the death date for Andrew must be before 1900 because by then his wife was a widow, and he is not listed on the census. The information I have showed him dying in 1905.

Peterson, Andrew L. 3 - 1 - 18??
Ingrid 5 - 30 - 1914
Linnea A. 9 - 29 - 1935
Edward W. 12 - 9 - 1952

What would be the best way to obtain obituaries for them?

I live in Maryland. I think that Linnea and Edward never married, but perhaps their brothers Carl and Otto did. Maybe the obituaries will tell me if I have living relatives from them.

Erma was born July 4, 1900, and had no birth certificate, but the midwife who attended her birth later testified to the accuracy of her birth information. Rebecca Bunce was married to William Renslow

I will appreciate hearing from others who have researched the Bunce/Renslow line.

Thanks,

I'm looking for a marriage record for my g-grandmother's sister, Mila Ann Donaldson. She married first Oscar Goodwill 1859 in Clinton County, Iowa. He died at the siege of Vicksburg. By the 1870 Federal Census she had evidently married a Clark and was widowed again and living in Wilton, Muscatine Co. with two children, Talbert N. and Sarah Henrietta Clark. Who was Clark? When and where was she married?

Also, any children of this couple, specifically Mandus Rodman born Sept. 22, bet. 1868-1871. I found a John and Dora Rodman on the 1870 Clinton Co. census, I don't know if that is the right couple as they had no children then. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!
My great grandmother, Henrietta Stanton Cram, died in Sharon Twp., Clinton Co., in the 1870's, and was buried in the Smithtown Cemetery. There is confusion as to the exact date; and there is no stone. My grandfather was born in 1871, and said he was seven when his mother died. Other sources give an earlier year.
Could someone check and tell me what is listed in the Clinton County deaths about her.
This would be much appreciated. Thanks.
C. Weston Cram

Just had a chance to look at the baptismal register - wow! That's my Martin for sure. Also explains the relationships of the other Eliasens in Clinton, Iowa. I will gladly read the information you have and begin doing my own search of the Norwegian records, but since this is such an important document for me I wanted to ask your opinion on one of the columns. In the 6th column, which lists the parents, I am having a difficult time deciphering the handwriting - this is what I have:

(something) Rasmus
Eliassen (something) (something)
Jeorgine Olafsdatter?

Can you read the words I couldn't decipher? Also, I don't know if last word is Olafsdatter or Olesdatter.

This will be my last question for you - promise!

Thanks again!

Joe

Jonas had died by 1910 and is buried in Pine Grove cemetery. However, I cannot find a shred of information for any of his sons or their families, when conducting a nationwide search of 1910, 1920, 1930 censuses.

I've found three O'Grady families in Bloomfield Twp in 1880.

William married to Ellen Costello;
Simon married to Mary Costello, Ellen's sister; and
Henry married to Margaret Gleason, and later to Mary McClimon.

I'm interested in learning how the O'Grady's were related to each other and if Margaret Gleason O'Grady was related to Ellen Gleason, who was living with them as a housekeeper.

Thanks,
Alaine

I would like to visit the Shaffton Cemetery but there is a gate with a chain and a sign that says "Private Drive". Who would I call for access? Or can you just open the gate and go on in?

I am looking for information about my great great grandmother Mary Sophronia Allen Stanton, who reportedly died in Sharon Twp., Clinton Co., in 1865. I have infromation that her younger sister, Daphne Amelia Allen Sloper, also died in 1865 in the same area. Any additional information and clarification about this would be appreciated. Thanks.

James Nolan - Clinton Iowa

James Nolan with wife Melinda and daughters Maude and Mable lived in Clinton IOwa in the 1910 and 1920 Federal Cenus. The girls were in their thirtys and were both teachers. James a 63 years old. I don't find any of them after that.
I wonder if James shows up in the death records after 1920 (and perhaps his wife - she was born in Illinois). The girls might have married after 1920.
Can anyone look this up at the courthouse?
