Dear Sally...I amazed at the information you have given me in a few seconds, when I have searched for many hours. I am pretty new at this. Thank you so much.

May I go one step further, since I see your name is Smith.

From Stories my mother told me, I have reason(but not any substantial proof) to believe that Dr. Milton Irving Smith was possibly the son of Rev. Raccoon John Smith of Kentucky.
Milton was born Sangamon Co. Ill. 1833, but in 1880 census record it says that both parents (un-named) resided in Kentucky. My mother said she knew his father was a "circuit preacher" somewhere in that geographical area.
I have read Raccoon John's history and find similarities in stories about loss of children as well. Interestingly, The information you gave me, I see that John Overholt was a "Reformer" Church of Christ, as was Raccoon John Smith.
Milton's son, My grandfather Roberty John Smith Graduated from Yale Divinity and became a preacher in that very same church. Would love to hear more if you have any ideas...thank you so much for what you have given me already...I am going to Google the night away! LOL Srv
