I have been reading too many novels, I suspect, but I noted the importance of the pub. what were the Pubs in this area. Especially Highland - Churdan or Jefferson. A little knowledge of that would be nice.
I was fortunate enough to have visited these towns a few years ago, but there was too much to notice. I did manage to go into a cafe in Churdan accross the street from the grocery store. I had expected the community to be german based and soon Unfortunately the proprieter of the grocery store knew nothing about the past of Churdan. I learned my pronuniation of 'Chu'rdan like 'chu'rch beginning was incorrect and that it was more irish or english based--'Shurdan'. Once inside the cafe I saw the castle pictures under glass. I forget what village the castle was from or the name displayed. Had I not visited, all this would have been unknown.
