Funeral services for James Harding Douglas, 88, will be in the Pierre funeral home Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robert T. Dodder in charge. Mr. Douglas, brother of Tom Douglas of Morning Sun and well known here, died Tuesday at the University Hospital in Iowa City following an illness of three months. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Douglas was born in Pittman (sic) county, Missouri, on November 1, 1865, and was married to Mary Belle Rumbley at Unionville, Missouri. Mr. Douglas was a member of the Union Church near Unionville. Surviving are two daughters and a son: Mrs. Goldie Monroe, Bismark, ND, Mrs. Bessie Mercer, Bayard, Iowa; and Laurel Douglas, Oklahoma City, OK. Other survivors include 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Tom Douglas, a brother and Dale Douglas a nephew live in Morning Sun. The parents, three brothers, Sam, Loren and Ben and a sister Nancy Tharp, are dead. (June 1952)
