Its been some time since this thread had any replies. I hope some of you are still checking. I have only recently begun working on my families genealogy. Thomas Jefferson Lee was my 3rd Great-Grandfather. William Martin Lee my 2nd Great-Grandfather. One of his daughters, Sarah Susanna married my Great-Grandfather, William Columbus Wilson.

Mu husband, Jack R. Paynter was doing research on this line, his grandfather was a brother to Thomas Paynter I think. I believe his name was William Paynter, married to Ann . They both came from Wales. William and Ann lived in Colfax, Iowa. Jack passed away in 2008 so I am coming in late to work on this geneology.

McCords in Mahaska County

Looking for McCord info from 1854 (Mahaska census)till present. From what I've found the family centered around Oskaloosa for the majority of this period. Especially Robert (b. abt 1822) and Jane (b. abt 1822) whom I'm thinking may have died in Garfield Township somewhere between 1900 and 1910. I have pretty good info on their kids, but come up short right now with the parents and further.

I'm right now trying to find out more about the voter registrations in the Vineland Precinct of Napa County. Specifically I'm trying to identify the boundaries of that precinct. My greatgrandfather, Martin Shula, was also in the Vineland Precinct Voter Registration in 1888 to 1900.

Regarding your Walter and Frank Chord voter registrations.
The one you reference is the 1906 registrations. (On Ancestry.com you can go back (towards the front) page by page to find the title page that will give you the year of the list. But you can also look at the end of each precinct list and see the date of the certification of the County Clerk.)

1900 it was:
31. Chord, Frank Sam'l 36 St. Helena
(No Walter Chord)

1904 it was:
24. Chord, Frank S. 41 St. Helena
(No Walter Chord.)

I've learned that the "St. Helena" may not be where they lived, but rather is their mailing address post office.

I'm also trying to identify precisely where my family lived by matching the 1900 voter registration for the Vineland Precinct with the 1900 US Census for the "Lodi/Vineland Precinct."

I got the Lockard book at the genealogy society in Oskaloossa Iowa on a trip there. The contributors are Lockard family members and it was written July 1, 1954. It was revised September 6th, 2001. William R Lockard is my ancestor. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Day. They were married September 13, 1829 in Jefferson County Indiana.

My name is David Deaver. My father, Herman E. Deaver, was born in Beach in 1898. The "Deaver family" that came from Ohio in 1844 was George W. Deaver. In 1848, he married Mary Ann Wilson and from them sprang the Deaver clan of Beacon and Garfield Township. I believe I have the info you seek with regard to Harry T Deaver and his ancestry; however, my records show his birth as 15 Aug 1936, not 1935. Want more information?

Gary Jones, 40, of Princeton,Ky., died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at 4:40 p.m. at Caldwell County Hospital Emergency Room of an accidental drowning.

Born Aug. 19, 1968, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, a son of Bob and Violet Chilcote Jones of Oskaloosa, Iowa, he was a receiving associate at Walmart. He had worked for Food Giant for several years and recently took the job at Walmart. He was a member of First Christian Church of Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Survivors in addition to his parents include three brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Cliff and Karen Jones of Princeton,Ky., Keith and Susan Jones of Chanhassen, Minn., and Steve and Cindy Jones of Portland, Ore.; three nieces; three nephews; a great-niece; and a great-nephew.

Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, July 1, at 7 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Cliff Jones officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy for Mr. Jones may take the form of contributions to First Christian Church, 510 Hopkinsville St., Princeton, Ky. 42445.

I have a picture on my Ancestry.com web-site of the house great great grandfather James Broherd bought for his family in Eddyville, Iowa. Yes, I did some work yesterday on my own and you are correct. I have a friend here in town who is a cousin of your dad's. Her dad and Rowena Blanche McDaniel were brother and sister, so when I figured that out, I called and talked to her. Rowena remarried and lived here in DSM IOWA until she passed away in 2005. Thanks for your input, I finally got another of the piece of the puzzle put together. Rowena was mentioned in the family history, but no last name. Yesterday I found that piece of the puzzle on ancestry.com. JoAnn Vestal

The information I have, I have pretty much dug up from using the resources on Ancestry.com. A little from family history nd a little from the Gen Web project. If you belong to Ancestry.com, you can go to my Chilton site.
The family called James Monroe, Uncle Rowe. He was married to Amanda Harrington Phillips in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He adopted her son, Tracey James Phillips, who became Tracey James Broherd. Amanda died in 1923. At that time James Monroe was living with her sons-Phillips- in Ottumwa. I don't know where he is buried. It was his parents who were supposedly divorced- Susan Belshe Broherd and James Broherd. James Monroe was a foreman for the brick and tile company in Oskaloosa. They also lived in Jefferson County Iowa in Locust Township around 1900 or so. It was reported in a family history that James Monroe was married after Amanda died, but I can find no record of that. My name is George Arthur Long III and I have a bit if information about John long who is my gg grandfather. My g grandfather was Henry Long, John and Elizabeth (Dawson) Long. My grandfather was George Arthur Long Sr. son of Henry and Cathrine (Kuntz) Long. John was born in Yorkshire, England, Dec. 12, 1812, and is a son of Christopher and Ann (Dunning) Long. John had 5 brothers, William, who came to America in 1838, but has never been heard from since; Robert, of Durham, England; Thomas and Christopher, of Yorkshire, England; James, who died in infancy. I have been unable to find any information as of yet for Christopher and Ann (Dunning) Long.

from bio in Cushing IA Centennial History Book 1883-1983:
In 1956 Wayne and Bessie came to Cushing where he was supt. of Cushing Consol. School. Bessie died Mar. 7, 1975 and Wayne died May 19, 1981. Both are buried in the Cushing Cem.
This bio mentions 2 children. Kay Elaine b. Sept. 8, 1940 in Oskaloosa IA and who married Gary Zediker of Mapleton on Sept. 3, 1961. At the time of this bio They lived in Spokane, WA, with 3 children Michele Gayle b. 1969, Brian Emmett, b. 1973, and Michael Gene b. 1975.(note: I believe Kay was born to Bessie's first marriage to Howard Gregory)
The second child is William David Beery b. May 21 1946 in Sioux City, IA. At that time he lived in Honolulu Hawaii, wife Lita, 4 sons, Scott David b. 1969, Matt David b. 1973, Derek Thomas b. 1970, Darryl Christopher b. 1972.

Thank you very much for your kind offer. I believe that the James Monroe Broherd that was your grandmother's uncle was my grandfather. He married late in life to a woman (my grandmother)named Rowena. She gave birth to Robert Monroe Broherd, Evelyn, Margurite, Gary, and Allen. I have not done any real research on my ancestry. But, from what I have found I believe that James Monroe Broherd was probably in his late 70's to middle 80's when he married my grandmother who was probably 14 to 15 years old (ugh). My father's side of the family do not talk much about the old days. I believe that James Monroe Broherd died when my father was about 8 or 9 years of age. I have a distant cousin that lives in Colorado that has done a lot of research and when time permits I will ask him what he knows of the divorce. Again thank you for your willingness to help me.
