A pioneer Resident Passes away at his home west of Ruthven Thursday.
John Cederholm passed away at his home Thursday, January 9, at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 5 days and funeral services were held Monday at the Methodist church with Rev. Belden Weikel officiating.
Nels John Cederholm, son of Peter and Anna Cederholm, was born in Holmstad, Sweden, February 25, 1860. At the age of 11 years, they immigrated to the United States with his parents and settled on a farm near Algona. Two years later they moved to Ruthven where his father homesteaded the farm three miles west of town known as the Ole Johnson farm. In 1884 he was united in marriage to Maria Carlson. Four children were born to this union: Fred Cederholm of Denton, Montana, and Esther, Emery and Perry of Ruthven. There are also nine grandchildren and three great grand children; two brother, Oscar and Fred, and one sister, Alma Peterson, of Los Angeles, California.
Mrs. Homer Drennen and Mrs. A. L. Bragg, accompanied by Mrs. Merle McGranahan at the piano, sang: "The old Rugged Cross," and "In the Garden" and "No Night There." Text: II Corinthians 5:1.
Lightle Furneral home of Ruthven had charge of funeral arrangements.
We loved him, yes we loved him,
But the angels loved him more;
And they have gently called him to yonder shining shore.
The golden gates were opened,
A gentle voice said "Come"
And with farewells all spoken, He calmly entered home.
