Elizabeth O'Brien Clasing Funeral Services Friday
Funeral services for Elizabeth O'Brien Clasing of Emmetsburg will be held Friday, Feb. 23, at 10:30a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. LeRoy Seuntjens will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers are Mrs. Clasing's grandsons: Paul Clasing, Dan O'Brien, Don Hagen, Tim O'Brien, Robert O'Brien and David Clasing.
Mrs. Clasing died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 1990, at Palo Alto County Hospital. She was 86.
Elizabeth (Evans) Clasing was born Oct. 3, 1903, in Estherville, the daughter of Archie and Margaret (Foley) Evans. She graduated from Estherville High School.
On May 12, 1924, Elizabeth and (John) Joseph O'Brien were married in Estherville. He preceded his wife in death on Feb. 28, 1964. Elizabeth was married to Albert Clasing Feb. 19, 1977, in Emmetsburg. He survives.
Mrs. Clasing had made her home in Emmetsburg since 1924. The O'Briens had a grocery store in Emmetsburg for many years. Elizabeth worked at Hughes Drug Store from 1964-77. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
Survivors include her husband Albert Clasing; three children, Carl O'Brien of Worthington, MN, Mrs. Francis (Betty) Brennan of Emmetsburg and William O'Brien of Spencer; 24 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Clasing was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph O'Brien, daughter Mary Jean, son Dean; four sisters, Margeret, Mary, Lucille and Catherine; and four brothers, Tom, John, Bill and Joe.
