There is Lost Island Lutheran Church and Cemetary located SW of Graettinger...between there and Ruthven. Small, pretty white church on the north side of the road and the cemetary there also. Is that the one you are thinking of?

Patty, thank you much for your reply to "PJ" regarding the name of the cemetary, which I now realise is Lost Island Cemetary.

I am attempting get the correct spelling and birth / death dates of my Paternal grandparents. They were Anne Margreta Ericsson (Johnson) and Frank Johnson. My father, Philip Eric Johnson, is also buried there.

If you or anyone else happens to visit Lost Island Cemetary, perhaps you could take a digital camera shot of their gravestone for me. The grave is located in the Southwest area of the cemetary.

I would do this myself, but I live on the exact opposite side of the world, in Bali, Indonesia!

My e-mail address is: sanuksanur@yahoo.com

Thank you to anyone who may help. Best wishes from Bali
PJ (Philip Johnson)

Yes, it is not far from here and would be glad to get a digital picture for you. May not be right away but soon. I will copy your email and take it with me so I am sure of getting the right one.

I found the stone of Frank and Anna Johnson, they are in the South Walnut Lutheran Cemetery, Graettinger, IA and not in the Lost Island Cemetery. Go in the center side walk about 50 yards and it is on your right side in the first row. Did not see a marker for Philip Johnson.
Will send additional information to e-mail address.

This board is amazing!! Within a few hours of my question re: my Swedish Johnson ancestors buried at Lost Island Cemetary, a saint named Roger Thorson had provided me all the info I had been seeking. And Patty has offered to take a photo of the gravestones when her schedule allows.

I appreciate this kind assistance!!

Best regards, Phil Johnson, Bali

Glad to help out--no problem. Was just wondering tho if Roger can tell me where that cemetary is. Is it east of Graettinger on the hill? Do you suppose the other grave could be at Lost Island? If its not with the others I mean?

It is about 3 miles South of Graettinger on Highway 4, then West on 320th Street about 1 and 1/2 miles on the left side of the road. This is the location of South Walnut or St Paul's Lutheran Cemetery where Frank, Anna & Philip Johnson are buried. It is not Lost Island Cemetery because I have all the records for that Cemetery.

OK, I know which one you are talking about now. So all three should be there. I will look and see if I can find Phillip also. Has the Lost Island Cemetary been transcribed or how did you get the records of who is there? Just curious cause I was interested in doing some of the other area ones myself and aside from Iowa Genweb, not sure who to contact. So many people have helped me, I would like to do something in return.Thanks.

Please note, thanks to Roger Thorson, I realise that the cemetary with Johnson remains is South Walnut, not Lost Island. And Patty, thanks for your great input.
