I am the grgrgrandson of Andrew W. Campbell. Thank you for this bio. His wife was Lucy Reed Foster, so her middle initial is "R.", not B. Blue Grass, Iowa was to be his ideal family clan. He had been developing several farms and selling them on his westward movement. In Iowa, he had a large farm that he planned would be the center of his large family clan. As his children married, he hoped that they would live on the farm and share equipment and labor to enjoy their many years of hard labor to reach this dream. Then, gold was discovered in California and his older sons George and Andrew Jr. and son in law, Ross McCloud, went to Calif. to make their fortunes. They found the climate and land to be more desirable than the hard work to find gold. The sons settled in Calif. and invited their father to come see their fertile farms. On that trip, he escorted his oldest living daughter, Mary, to her husband Ross McCloud in the gold fields. He died a sad death on the trip as did so many others before and after him. Mary was an excellent writer. She kept a journal of her experiences and this trip. If anyone knows where Mary Campbell McCloud Fry's priceless journals can be found today, please let me know. She settled in Siskiyou County Calif. I am an Andrew W. Campbell Family Historian and a descendant of Andrew W. Campbell Jr.
