Book - The Aasletten (Anderson) Family from Oyer to America, 1798 to 1980, Volume I

This book was printed in 1980 and compiled by Junie Mellby. It was a hardbound book with a light blue cover. The genealogy in this book is for the Aasletten (Anderson) family that immigrated from Norway and the book starts with Anna Aasletten who settled in Silver Lake, Worth, Iowa. She was buried at the Silver Lake Cemetery as Anna Jenson.

I am attaching a photo of the book cover.

If anyone has a copy of this book or sees one at a thrift shop or bookstore, please, please would you let me know.

I found a copy on Amazon and may be interested in purchasing another copy if the price is right.

Thank you!

I have a copy of the obituary. Get me your e-mail address and I will see about getting a copy to you.

But you need to help me - Grace Schoolcraft gave birth to me in March 1935. According to hear notations that man's name is Harry Gronvold. Dorothy the wife of James Schoolcraft who died several weeks, tells me this individual lived in Mason City. Use of that name on ancestory.com comes up with few tidbits. This has been a 30 year search with no results.

Grace claimed me as a son. James claims me as a 1/2 brother, Ben Lamfers claims me as a son. Who am I?

My aunt Marie Rodberg married Skram. I had understood that the families had occupied an island in the North Sea. I have so little information about my father, Rasmus Monson Rodberg Does your research encompass my family who I guess lived in Worth County, Iowa, after immigrating in the late 1800's. I also remember hearing references to Fertile, Iowa. Please let me know if you have anything of relevance. Thank you.

I am searching for more information regarding Andrea Lackore Throm. I have a newspaper clipping from April of 1951 from the Kossuth County Advance that lists a marriage license being taken out by Paul Throm and Andrea Lackore both of Forest City. I have a copy of Paul Edward Throm's obituary that states he married Andrea Lackore on 5 April 1952 and that she died the 22nd of February 1967. I know they lived all their married life in Forest City, Iowa. I'd like to determine who her parents were and her date of birth. Also where she is buried. I know that Paul died in 1976 and his remains were returned to Marysville, Marshall, Kansas where he was born and he was buried next to his first wife. Any information regarding Andrea would be most appreciated.

I'm hoping someone has a resource to help me find the exact date of my great-grandfather's death. He was b. Dec 1872 in Hordaland, Norway. Came to LaSalle Co. IL in 1885 with his family, then moved on to Iowa with two of his sisters by 1900. He came back to Illinois to marry Marie Kittelson in 1905 and lived the rest of his life near Scarville, Winnebago Co. We visited several years ago and found his headstone in the cemetery at Bethel Lutheran church, whose records were lost in a fire. Information on the county GenWeb site states that no death records from June 1919-1921 are available at the courthouse. Hoping someone has other suggestions for me to find his date of death with hope of eventually finding an obituary. He was alive when the 1920 census was taken at the end of January. Thanks for any help you can give.

Flynn, farmer near Elmore, Minnesota, was instantly killed late Saturday night when the
car which he was driving went off the road into a five-foot ditch on the State Line road about five miles north of Ledyard. Thank you for bringing it to my attention...I'll get it posted on the Winnebago County, Wisconsin board.

I still haven't received a return call from the church in Neenah about Caroline, and I did talk to the Paster in Hilbert, Calumet County about the Ross family. I'm sending him a letter with the people's names I want him to research.

Take care and stay warm

Marv

Would anyone know how I would locate information on Caroline Schroeder? Caroline was living with her sister, Sophia (Mrs. Henry Paschen) in the 1880 Federal Census for 2nd Ward of Neenah, Winnebago County, Wisconsin with the surname spelled Schrader. She was 15 years old and listed as working in a "papermill".

Caroline stayed with her sister, as the rest of her family Johann and Fredericka (Weil) Schroeder, relocated to the Twn of Liberty, Outagamie County, between 1875 and 1880.

In Johann's obituary of 31 May 1919 in the Oshkosh Daily Northwestern Paper,Caroline is not mentioned as one of the surviving family members.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Marv Schrader

I am looking for death information for Leo Valtaine Flynn who was born on 19 Feb 1899 in Grant Twp, Winnebago Co, IA. He was the son of Martin and Nellie Flynn, both of whom were immigrants from Ireland. The 1915 Iowa State census reports that he belonged to a Roman Catholic church and had attended grammar school for one year; he had no education beyond that but reported on the census that he was able to read and write. About 1926, he married Josephine Mary Gordon who grew up in Hancock Co. The last record that I can find for Leo is 1930 when he and Josephine were living in Grant Twp. I would like to find his date and place of death. He seems to have spent most of his life in WInnebago Co, so this seems like a good place to search. Can anyone provide me with some help with this?

Thank you.
Ruth Hastie

Looking for where these two brothers were between 1900 and 1920. Their parents were Matilda Breum, b. c. 1873 in Norway, and William Graham, (b 1872 Milwaukee). Matilda died in 1901 and when their father remarried, the boys disliked their stepmother so much that they ran away from home in their early teens. My father (son of Clarence) says they worked on farms and then joined the army. Joseph ended up in Iowa where he married Gladys Jennison and raised a family. William Clarence (always called Clarence) ended up in Ohio and married Cecelia Reik. But where were they in between? Has anyone else researched this family?

I grew up in Newton township. I have the cemetery records for North Prairie Lutheran Church located in section 1 of Newton township, but its records do not begin until about 1916. There are some Hylland's listed, but in the 1920's.
I would suggest that you contact Center Lutheran Church, which is nearby. Their website is: http://www.wctatel.net/web/scarvillelutheran/index.htm
I know they go back before 1900, so you may have success there. Good luck!

Newton Township Cemetery Index?

Does anyone know if there is a cemetery index that I can search online? I am looking for the burial recon for myGGGrandmothers sisters burial place. I doubt that there is a gravestone. Her death record from Winnebago County said that she died 22 Oct. 1901 in Newton Township, and that she was buried in Newton Township. Her name was
Anna Hylland-Gudvangen. She was married to Andrew A. Gudvangen, and they had lived in Winnebago County for a while, they had 3 daughters born there. They were, Anna A. Gudvangen, b. 16 Jun 1898 Norway Twsp., Andrine b. 16 Sep 18 1899 in Norway Twsp., and Oline b. 5 Jun 1901 in Newton Twsp. I know that this family was Lutheran, can anyone help with suggestions on how to find her burial site. Thanks alot for reading this. Dianna Gray

On the Winnebago geneology site someone gave information that Zelotus J Stewart was born 5 Nov. 1838 Butler County PA. Died 17 Jan 1911 in Forest City. Buried in Boone IA.
There is a L.J. Stewart list in the WPA records for him in Boone born 1839 died 1911 buried in Hull of Meadow Cemt. Luther, Worth TWP. It states that he was a Civil War Vet. Company F. 134th PA Vol. Looking at a Civil War site Zelotus was in the 134th Co.F as a Wagoneer. The WPA must have mistaken the Z for an L. in Boone. This could be the person you are looking for.

Grandmother Anna Gudvangen (Rod)

My grandmother Anna Gudvangen was born June 16, 1898 in Lake Mills, Iowa. She was orphaned early in her life and at some point may have lived In S.D. and ended up taking the last name of Rod before her marriage at age 21 in Wisconsin to a Johnson. Her Social security application lists her parents name as Andres (B July 1864) and Anna Gudvangen (born Nov 1877). I found them on the 1900 census but Anna only lists having 1 child, although there are two listed, in addition to Anna age 1, there is an Andrine listed - age 8 months. Which child was biologically hers? I know my grandmother Anna mentioned that her father died in a farm accident (I think) and she was passed around to different family members. It was a pretty bad existence apparently - she was treated as a hired hand and she never kept in touch with any of this family or mentioned them to her husband or his family after she married at age 21. Does anyone have any information or suggestions on where I could look to find out if this Anna on the census of 1900 is her biological mother? or what may have happened to her. Other message boards mention this Anna and Andres or Andrew Gudvangen, but the anna listed in their home as a child is my grandmother whose parents both died and i have no knowledge of her having even a half sister named Andrine. Thanks!
