Hi Jocelyn, Long time resident of does not mean born there. You forgot to include a nativity for William. Also, find your people on all available census records first. It gives you more data to work with and also provides data that may help or hinder your research. The 1880 census indexes & transcrips are free on-line at www.familysearch.org. Go there and you will find 3 yr old Willie Clinton with his parents & sibling in Montgomery co, Ia. The 1925 Ia state census indicates Wm. Clinton's parents were Pat and Maggie (Mc Laughlin) Clinton.
